Boise Capital Lions News

The Boise Capital Lions are busy planning our Annual Fishing Derby with Lion Kip Dennis heading it up. He has a hard working committee meeting every two weeks. The next Fishing Derby will be on April 26, 2008, at the Park Center Pond in Boise. VDG Laura Walls has been busy working with the Idaho City Lions and their fund raisers, working with the Casino Nights committee repairing the tables, and visiting other clubs in the district. She was also seen at Cabela's with other club members serving up hot dogs, chili, salad, and drinks on October 7th. Lion Tom Shores gave a final accounting of the Pancake Breakfast which was held in August. Thanks to all who helped in any way with that. A new club pin is being designed and will be out soon. On November 4th, the MSU will be at Cabela's store to provide free hearing and eye screenings. Lion Ken Wood is chairman for the Scholarship Committee and is busy gathering his committee and planning for a fund raiser. Lion Nancy Berto reports donations of coupons were slow over the summer but have picked up once again. She is averaging $2,300 a month in manufacturer's coupons that are mailed to military families serving in Japan. Lion Dave Stokes is heading up the program sales for the Stampede again this year. Program sales will start in November. New Lion Laurie Toney is chairman for the Christmas project. Our STOLEN BANNER is back and now has a lock and chain on it! The club voted that such thievery should be blackballed in the future!! Lion Tom Shores is working with Special Olympics and handed out volunteer forms for everyone to sign up. Several members took part in the Light the Night event. The next board meeting is November 14th.
