The purpose of the meeting is to bring the cabinet up to date on current activities and discuss the revoting on the increase in District Dues and changes to the MD Constitution. Cabinet meeting minutes were provided to all Cabinet Attendees prior to the meeting.
A motion was made by Lion Bob Flowers and seconded by Lion Deanna Rostock to accept the Cabinet minutes from February 25, 2005. Passed unanimously.
VDG Deanna Rostock discussed the financial statement, there is a pressing need for an increase as there will be a deficit of about $2000 this year and the district is unable to fund training and other needed expenditures. A motion was made by Lion Ray Hansen and seconded by Lion Bob Flowers to accept the financial statement. Passed unanimously
DG Gary D’Orazio- The Gem Emmett Lions are now officially chartered and the Star Lions have submitted their Charter Application.
Lion Louie Pfleger stressed the need to increase membership and recruit younger members who will work for the community.
Lion Jim Barley- LCIF has received over $10,000 from our District for the Tsunami Relief fund and 5 Melvin Jones Awards can be used by the District at a later date from the fund. Over $6 million plus $2.5 million from LCIF was raised in total, far exceeding expectations.
Lion Ray Hansen- District Governor contest will be revised for next year to simplify the process and get more participation. Six awards will be made this year.
Lion Lavon Shelton- Leadership training will be done on May 21st for incoming club officers and a new member orientation in Boise will be done at a later date.
Zone 2 Chair and Youth Exchange Lion Shirley Hazen- visited all the clubs in her zone. She also needs homes for 4 visitors from Finland and one from Japan.
Lion DG Gary D’Orazio- Requested support for Hit the Jackpot IX, need sponsors, golfers and raffle items.
Lion Shawna Hagerty- Has packets for next years Peace Poster project
Lion CC Bob Storm-The 2 winning posters are on display
DG Gary D’Orazio- Quest, teachers can earn Continuing Education credits through NNU. Next year’s coordinators are Lions Paul Epperson and Harry Granger.
Zone 5 sponsored a visit to Hope House earlier in May, and donated clothes and books. There are about 60 children there presently. Unfortunately, the sewer problem still exists and it needs to be fixed in the near future.
VDG Deanna Rostock – New directories will be sold for $5 each, cabinet members will get them and each club will get 2. These are in binders and contain much more information than in the past.
Lion Gene Kelly- Public Relations, has not had as much success as hoped, an article about Hope House was published in the Lion magazine. He has a 3 Lion committee working on plans to utilize the LCIF matching grant on District wide publicity.
Meeting adjourned at 5PM
