Treasurer’s Report
PDG Jim Barley asked if the Local Leadership Program funds be increased to
cover meals and additional expenses for training programs. A minimum of
$500.00 is needed to sufficiently cover the expenses. VDG Darrell Hatfield
moved the fund be increased to $500.00. PDG Jim Barley seconded the
motion. The motion passed.
Lion Gordon Blair questioned the $600 Pin income. Lion Laura explained the
$600 reflected the number of pins already received from Lion Bart
Phillips. Lion Gordon noted he will have to meet with Lion Bart to sort
out the pin situation because he has more pins than he should have.
After discussion, VDG Darrell Hatfield moved to accept the budget as
amended. PDG Jim Barley seconded the motion. The motion passed. A copy of
the original budget and a revised budget will be attached to the minutes
kept by the secretary for the archives and is available upon request.
DG Bob Flowers discussed the establishing of two new clubs; one in
Meridian and one in Middleton. There is potential for an additional club
in Idaho City. The Meridian Noon Lions have applied and received their
Charter & are in the process of scheduling their Charter Party. He noted
the Middleton club has voted to change their meetings to the first & third
Wednesdays of each month at noon. He stated Idaho City has scheduled a
meeting with the local business owners on Wed. November 8th at noon &
invited all who are interested to attend.
DG Bob Flowers discussed the “Disaster Alert Program” set up by LCI, and
has asked the District to select a chair for the district to act as
liaison between the community and LCI. He has asked PCC Jack Benson to
chair this program and is waiting for his response.
DG Bob then went on to discuss the new Family Dues structure set up by
LCI.
Zone Chair Reports
Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer Laura Walls read the Zone Chair reports turned
in by Lion Loren Honstead and Lion Betty Wartluft. Lion Pat Rohwer
delivered her report on her Zone.
Lion Pat Rohwer then went on to report on the Mid-Winter Convention
progress.
Pin Chair Gordon Blair delivered a brief report on the status of the
district pins.
PDG Jim Barley delivered a report on Leadership Training. He noted a power
point program has been set up for presentations to the various clubs in
the district. He noted that a budget line item should be set up to cover
equipment expenses for the district, i.e., lamps for projectors, laptops,
etc.
DG Bob Flowers asked if the members would make a motion to establish an
accumulative fund to cover necessary technical equipment for the
District. Secretary/Treasurer Laura Walls suggested she could add a line
item for this fund when revising the budget.
PDG Jim Barley noted he has an orientation meeting set up for Zone 2 on
November 18th. The meeting will be in Fruitland.
DG Bob Flowers discussed the new flyer furnished by LCI titled “Lions Make
a Difference”. They can be ordered through LCI Membership.
Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer Laura Walls announced her club, the Boise
Capital Lions, is in the process of setting up a fishing derby in the
spring & asked if anyone knew of any club that has done a fishing derby
before. It was suggested the Declo Lions be contacted because they have
participated in fishing derbys before.
DG Bob Flowers commented that CC Deanna Rostock has scheduled an on-line
meeting for the council cabinet on November 4th. He noted he has set up
conference call meetings & that they have been rather successful.
DG Darrell Hatfield noted the upcoming training in Twin Falls on November
9-10, put on by CC Deanna Rostock, DG Bob Flowers & Lion Laura Walls. He
indicated there is a need to have a good turn-out to ensure the success of
the program. One day will be dedicated to training, the second day to
recruiting in Wendell.
VDG Darrell Hatfield noted the 2008 Mid-Winter will be in Twin Falls.
