BSU Eyeglass Collection

Note from Lion Angela Qualman

LensCrafters has partnered with "Lift Up America", Tyson chicken and Ty beanie babies to collect used eyewear, and distribute food, toys and new glasses to needy.  By teaming up with sports teams both Pro and College.  This is the first year for the program and we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to participate as one of only 25 locations selected this year.  This will mean media coverage and an opportunity to let our community know that the Lions care.

The eyeglass collection will be at the BSU/U of I game on 11-19-2005.  Those interested in helping out please let me know as soon as you can at abq63@msn.com or work #376-2063 or cell #830-3792.  I am working to insure that the volunteers will be able to attend the game.  We need approx. 20 more volunteers for this event.

The next event will take place on 12-06-2005 which is a Tuesday. It will entail  unloading and loading trucks, cars, etc. with food and toys (Tyson chicken and Ty Beanies).  It will most likely start around 11:00 am and finish around 3:00 pm.  I will know more on this event when we get a count of charitable agencies who will be picking up the items.  Again, I would like to be able to tell them they can count on about 20 Lions.  This to is guaranteed to have some media coverage, and it would be a great opportunity to show our community that we as Lions are here to Serve.

Thank you all very much, and I look forward to hearing from you.
