Lions Eye Foundation

The Idaho Edition of MONOPOLY Game is here! It is a fundraising effort for the Idaho / E. Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation to create a legacy for sight and hearing conservation for the state of Idaho. Just image what Idaho would be like without our foundation like it was back in 1969 – people waiting for years for a cornea transplant, those in need not getting the medical treatment for sight and hearing conservation, no new sight screening equipment for checking the eyesight of school age children.

What we do today can ensure that we, as Lions, leave an inheritance that our great grand children will get a benefit from. Imagine now what that legacy could be by providing a “PERMANENT GIFT OF SIGHT” for the state of Idaho – an everlasting location for our foundation and eye bank, a fully outfitted eye bank with modern equipment, the most up to date sight and hearing screening equipment, a Mobile Screening Unit that can be operated on a more frequent basis, the ability to provide most people in need with the sight and hearing surgeries and procedures they require. We need to raise $250,000 to make this vision happen.

What this fundraiser will do!

First, it will raise funds for the permanent location.

Second, it will promote what our Foundation and Lions Clubs do for our communities.

Third, it will raise awareness of the needs for the State of Idaho for Sight and Hearing.

If you have not had a chance to see the game, please take the time to see it. It is a high quality game that is fully authorized and licensed by Hasbro. In other words, it is a true MONOPOLY game and not a cheap knock off. It is something that we, as Lions, will be proud of. It shows off the natural beauty of Idaho, has a little bit of its history, its symbols, its major Universities, and its major industries. It makes a great gift to send to friends and relatives that no longer live in Idaho and as a keepsake in our homes to share a game and time with friends.

There is an insert booklet in the game box. This booklet has information on our foundation and what services it provides. It also has what our Multiple District and our local Lions Clubs have done in community service projects over the years, from building parks, cooking meals, having huge fundraisers for those in need, working with our youth, and the many more projects to numerous to type about here.

What can I do to help out?

Promote and sell the game to all your family, friends, church members, work mates, community, and anyone else you can think of. This game will only be available for a limited time and the more we promote and sell it – the greater the amount of funds we can raise. Lets not just sell this game to us Lions – we need to raise the funds from our community, because if we only raise the funds from us Lions, we will never make it.

Find retail locations that will sell the game for us. The more we spread this game around, the greater the chance we will meet our fundraising goal.

Get this fundraiser mentioned on your local TV stations, radio stations and in the local newspapers. List all the locations locally where the game can be bought.

The cost of the game – it is $35.95 direct and $30.00 even for resellers. Yes – you can go buy a MONOPOLY game cheaper than that, but you can’t buy one customized for the State of Idaho and help with this worthy fundraising effort.

I would like to thank all of the Lions that have not only bought the game for themselves, but have gone out and sold to many people and have found retail locations to sell even more. Gaylon Gneiting is doing a bang up job around South East Idaho. DG Bob Flowers is out selling everyone else in this effort. There are many more that are helping out and so little space to mention them, but both Gaylon and Bob are examples for all the rest of us.

We need to sell approximately 20,000 games to reach our goal. That may seem like a large number, but if you think about it, there are 2,000 Lions in our Multiple District and if each one of us sold just 10 games, we would meet our goal. 10 games is not that hard to sell.

Please help out with this fundraiser – call or talk with your District Governor, your Sight and Hearing Trustee, your club president and tell them you want to be involved.
