The topic of the 2012 essay contested has been selected. Students will write essays entitled "How Can I Best Serve My Country in Time of Need and Disaster?"  The deadline for clubs to send entries to the District Governor is March 31, 2012.  The District Governor will select the top essay from each grade to send to the Multiple District.  Multiple District winners will have an opportunity to  read their essay at the MD convention in Sun Valley in May.  Clubs are encouraged to provide recognition to their local winners and, if selected as a multiple district winner,  lunch at the convention for the student and his/her parents. 

The essay contest is open to elementary school students in grades 1-6 within the boundaries of Multiple District 39.  Lions will introduce the contests in the schools in their community.  Entries must include the cover sheet provided.
