Scrapbook Contest
District Scrapbook Contest

Each year, the clubs of District 39W are invited to participate in a scrapbook contest which is judged at the Mid-Winter Convention and at the MD Convention in Sun Valley.  Lion Linda Clemenger is this year's Chairperson for the contest.  Please contact her with any questions.

Contest Period:  July 1, 2009-Sun Valley Convention, 2010

Entry Information:  There is no minimum or maximum size of this book.  It should serve as a club's yearbook, a fine memento for the president in whose year it is compiled.

Official Point System:
  The contest will be divided and judged in nine categories:

  1. Organization and Indexing........................................................................................7 points Logical or creative organization.  Each section should be tabbed for ease of judging and comparison.
  2. General Appearance .................................................................................................3 points Overall presentation and appearance of the book emphasizing creativity and originality.
  3. Local Community Service........................................................................................20 points  Community fundraisers, service projects or social activity sponsorships.
  4. District Service Activities..........................................................................................15 points Any fundraiser, service project or social activity sponsorship beyond the local community.  Includes Sight and Hearing Foundation, Special Olympics, Festival of Trees, and other District, Regional and Zone service activities.
  5. Multiple District Activities.........................................................................................10 points Fundraisers, service projects, or social activities at the Multiple District level.  Includes Patriotism Contest, Leader Dog, Youth Exchange, and any other Multiple District activity.
  6. International Activities............................................................................................10 points Fundraisers, service projects or social activities at the International level.  Includes LCIF, White Cane, USA/Canada Forum, International Convention, Peace Poster, etc.
  7. Youth Activities........................................................................................................10 points Youth related programs at all levels.  Includes LEO sponsorship, scouting, recreation teams, exchange students, essay or poster contests, etc.
  8. News Media Coverage............................................................................................15 points News in any media.  Includes publication in local newspaper, LIONS or any other magazine, television coverage, etc.
  9. Club Social Activities................................................................................................10 points Social activities at any level in which the club is involved.  Includes Spouses Night, Installations, club socials, Zone and Region events not listed elsewhere, District Conventions, etc.

Identification:  On the front page, the scrapbook should be identified with the club name, District name, the club officers and club scrapbook chair.

Judging:  Entries will be judged at the Mid-Winter Convention in February and again at the Sun Valley Convention in May.  To be eligible for consideration, all books must be in the display room by the time designated by the convention committee for each event. 

Awards:
  Awards will be presented at each Convention for District Governor's Award , Vice District Governor's Award and Overall Best Scrapbook Award.

Notice: 
Any information or photographs that clubs have regarding District 39W functions (especially those involving the District Governor) will be welcomed to be included in the District Scrapbook.  Please send information about the event and also pictures (labeled on the back with names and dates of the event) to Lion Linda Clemenger as soon as possible after your event is over.   Please include pictures taken when the District Governor is making a visitation to your club.
