Lions Clubs in District 39W are collecting pull tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House in Boise. Which club will collect the most? Prizes will be awarded in May.
The topic of the 2020 Patriotism Essay Contest, held annually in Multiple District 39, is "How Can I Show Patriotism in My School and Community in a Peaceful Way?".
The essay contest is open to elementary school students in grades 1-6 within the boundaries of Multiple District 39. Lions introduce the contests in the schools in their community typically in January or February. Club members select winning essays to submit to the District contest. District contest winners at each grade level advance to the Multiple District contest. Multiple District winners have the opportunity to read their essays at the MD convention in Sun Valley in May.
Entries must include the cover sheet which lists the contest rules. Deadline for clubs to submit essays to the district is March 19, 2021.
Each year, Lions around Idaho and the world sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in their local schools or youth organizations. The contest encourages youth to express their vision of peace in an original poster. Artists can use various media to complete their work, and the contest is open to students ages 11,12, and 13.
The theme for the 2019-20 Peace Poster Contest is "Journey of Peace".
More information about the contest can be found on the Lions Clubs International website. The complete guidelines and rules for the contest are available in the Peace Poster Kit. Kits are available to purchase from January 15 until October 1. Deadline to enter is November 15.
