Let it be known that the Lions of Multiple District 39 Convention will be held in Sun Valley, Idaho, April 30 - May 1, 2021.
We will enjoy actually meeting with fellow Lions after the long season of Covid hibernation!! Sun Valley is also excited to see us and is taking special precautions to help us have a FUN and SAFE CONVENTION!!
We will have a parade of checks on Saturday where clubs and individuals will have an opportunity to donate to LCIF, Sighr and Hearing, and Leaderdog. LCIF has been very active in assisting areas around the world during the pandemic and needs our help to continue assisting those in need.
All clubs please send a basket or item for the raffle at MD 39 Convention. Anything is welcome.
On Saturday we’ll have an opportunity for inductions of new members.
We are excited to do a fun and very beneficial service project on Saturday afternoon. We will assemble Children’s Activity Kits for homeless shelters in our communities. We’ve spoken with a couple of the shelters and they were enthusiastic about receiving these and know that the children will greatly appreciate them. In each kit we plan to include pencils, crayons, coloring books, sketch pad, tooth paste, tooth brush, hand sanitizer, a few prepackaged treats, and possibly a stuffed animal. There is also a need for colored pencils and coloring books for adult women. If your club can bring any of these items to convention, please contact Lion Irene Torgesen, gltorg@aol.com, who is coordinating the items.
We are planning a Celebration of Life event to honor all Lions that have passed away since our last convention in 2019. Please send the names and obituaries, if possible, of members of your Club that have passed during the last two years to Lance Peck downardfuneralhome@msn.com . You may also include a description of the deceased member’s contribution to your Club, your community and Lionism in general. Lion Lance would like to have that information by mid-March.
We are contemplating a vote on the name change of the Sight and Hearing Foundation to Envision. A vote is also needed regarding changes to the Sight and Hearing Constitution by-laws that the trustees have been working on. These votes will be contingent upon adequate communication from the trustees of the proposed changes to all Lions Clubs in the sub-districts as required by the Sight and Hearing Constitution.
